Saturday, October 24 – German Park Closing
The annual park closing will take place on Saturday, October 24 at 9:00 am. The Federation can use as many volunteers as possible in order to defray the costs of paying the maintenance workers to do some of the work. Please bring work gloves and rakes. If you have a couple of hours to spare that morning, come out and rake a pile or two of leaves or pick up sticks. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Should we wake up to rain on Saturday, the closing will be Sunday, October 25 at 9:00 am.
Sunday, November 8 – Veterans Recognition at The German American Klub
On Sunday, November 8th at 6:00 MAJ. Merrill D. Simmerman (Ret) and the GAK will host an informal program to honor and remember GAK members for their military service. We’ll conduct a wiener roast open to all GAK members. Please bring your own cooler of drinks for your family and a bag of chips to share along with lawn chairs and roasting sticks. The wieners, buns, and condiments will be provided. We will gather around the bon fire and share stories of our military experiences and family stories about supporting a serviceman. All families are invited to join us as many of us are either Veterans or have family members who served. If canceled for bad weather, just remember those who served this Veteran’s Day, November 11th.
