Saturday, April 28 – Maibaumaufstellen—the Raising of the May Pole!

Come join us on Saturday afternoon, April 28th, as we officially open the Biergarten season by raising our first Maibaum (Maypole). The tradition of raising the maypole in the town square of German towns on May 1st dates back centuries, perhaps millennia. The tradition is complete with food, dancing, and of course, BIER! Our festivities will begin at 4:00 PM on the 28th, and the march and aufstellen will occur beginning at 5:00. We will be featuring the new Daredevil Maibock for this event, the official Indy Bier of spring, and we’ll have the grills going in the biergarten with sausages from Claus’ German Sausage and Meats, sides, and vegetarian options. The Tanzgruppe will be teaching us some new dances, and we’ll learn a new song or two to sing as well. Come issue in spring with us!

German Park Opening

Hello Everyone,

We will begin park opening tomorrow at 9am , rain or shine. It looks like we might have some clearing from the early morning rain and thought we would get done as much as we can.
Please bring gloves, rakes, tarps, etc. We will have coffee, donuts, milk and hot water available for tea or hot chocolate.

Depending on how many people are still around at about 11 am will determine if we serve a lunch. As Todd said, “KFC is right down the road”.

Please pass the word along to any members you know about the opening.

Thank you and hope to see you tomorrow!

Lisa Brinker
